Is a tooth damaged, e.g. because of caries or an accident, the nerve may become inflamed and die afterwards. Bacteria manage to enter the body via the root canals and cause inflammations at the bone and at the root canals. The autoimmune-system reacts to the bacterial invasion in a worst case scenario with a painful suppurative focus at the root canal, and weakens the entire organism with such infections. A root canal therapy includes the removal of all bacteria and tissue remainders from the canal system and its branches. After the treatment the cleaned empty space is sealed and does not allow bacteria to enter. Natural tooth substance may be restored this way for a long-lasting service. We prepare the root canals by endometry (electrical root canal length determination) in our practice. This spares the patient of an x-ray examination and the unnecessary radiation exposure.
