The aesthetic tooth contouring is performed with porcelain caps called veneers. Veneers are inserted into the natural row of teeth in order to cap almost intact, but discoloured teeth, large gaps or malformed teeth. They are used in underdeveloped or crooked teeth as well as in cases with intensive discolorations. An additional advantage: Most of the time the teeth do not even require polishing. The almost clear porcelain caps take on the natural colour of the tooth.
In contrast to the crowning this means only a minimal loss of substance for the tooth. Furthermore, porcelain is more resistant than simple acrylic onlays and can be adapted more easily and permanently to the shade of the other teeth.
Practical example:
Veneers are predominantly used in the area of the incisor teeth.
